'Beat the Holiday Bulge' Weight Management Challenge
PureWellness partners with Brigham and Women's Hospital to deliver Second Annual Event
BURLINGTON, Vt., Nov. 2, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- PureWellness, a leading provider of online wellness solutions and the prestigious Brigham and Women's Hospital have partnered to deliver the Second Annual 'Beat the Holiday Bulge' Weight Management Challenge.
Studies have shown that the average person gains anywhere from 1-5 pounds during the holiday season. The Centers for Disease Control estimates that 70% of all illnesses are due to lifestyle related causes such as obesity and inactivity. The 'Beat the Holiday Bulge' Challenge provides the tools, education and motivation to help individuals maintain their weight over the holidays.
Brigham and Women's Cardiovascular Wellness Service is excited to sponsor and actively participate in the 'Beat the Holiday Bulge' program this year. "We are always looking for new strategies and programs that can deliver improved health and individual wellness. Our hope is that online programs such as PureWellness' 'Beat the Holiday Bulge' can improve heart disease risk factors and ultimately reduce cardiovascular events," said Dr. JoAnne M. Last year's participants in the 'Beat the Holiday Bulge' program lost a total of 1,600 pounds, with participating organizations experiencing weight loss of as much as 3.3 pounds per person enrolled. "Last year's results exceeded our expectations.
