The Commerce Department will release its retail sales data for the month of March on Friday. Retail sales rose in the first two months of 2013 despite the expiration of payroll tax cuts at the start of the year. The main driver for retail sales growth has been an improvement in labor market. However, March's non-farm payrolls data suggests that the labor market did not make any significant progress last month. Expectations for March retail sales, therefore, are quite low.
