MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Announced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, BelleFox (www.bellefox.ai) is poised to revolutionize how families interact in this constantly connected world. The BelleFox Wi-Fi router is a unique technology that delivers not only reliability and fast speeds, but a host of features to help parents see and understand their children's online behavior — and even to learn more about who their children are as individuals. The system uses Big Data and AI (artificial intelligence) to deliver its powerful, useful insights.
"Children today are online natives, which can be extremely stressful for parents," stated Lily Li, co-founder of BelleFox. "Until now, family Wi-Fi systems simply offered ways to limit children's time and access to specific sites. BelleFox goes beyond that."
BelleFox has two main features that set it apart from any other router on the market today. First, its Active Discovery™ uses AI to better understand children's behavior while on the Internet, classifying which sites are practical and safe based on web traffic information. At the same time, BelleFox is constructing a vast knowledge base of kids, their interests, personality and other relatives, which is based on expert insights from educators, psychologists and other scientists, but not limited. The system continually adds data and learns over time, and works to reveal parts of the child's personality that may not be obvious to parents. These insights can then become conversation starters for children and parents, or catalysts for family topics that everyone enjoys.
The data will also improve the performance and predictive capabilities of the system's AI. In plain English, the BelleFox router and its suite of features will continue to get faster, smarter and better.
The other key feature of BelleFox is LiveView™, which lets parents check a child's current online activity without physically hovering over his or her shoulder. The tool can be accessed from anywhere at any time, giving children and parents much-needed private space — while still providing parents with peace of mind.
Of course, BelleFox also includes an Active Rules feature that allows parents to set reasonable limits on screen time, as well as set other parameters for Internet usage. The system screens for and blocks known dangerous sites by design, and is always on the lookout for new inappropriate content, alerting parents when it's discovered. Meanwhile, BelleFox AI bots can remind children that it's time to stop chatting or playing games online and go to bed — or finish their homework.
The BelleFox router boasts all the specs one would expect to find in today's high-end routers. The system works on both the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands, and is built using the latest 802.11ac chipset. Speeds of 1.3Gbps are possible thanks in part to the router's beam-forming wireless signal.
BelleFox does not have to replace a family's current Wi-Fi; instead, it can be a second Wi-Fi primarily designed for the kids — it can also be used by the whole family.
The first production run of BelleFox routers is expected to ship in the spring.
