Bellevue University Top 3 in Military Times Best for Vets Ranking
BELLEVUE, Neb., Nov. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bellevue University earned a top three ranking in the Military Times Best for Vets: Colleges 2014 Rankings in the Category of Online and Non-Traditional Schools.
"The rating Bellevue University received from the Times Best for Vets: Colleges 2014 ranking is indicative of over 45 years of the University's support to our active duty military and veterans," said Colonel Jim Biernesser, USAF (Retired) and director of Bellevue University Military Programs. "With the addition of a full-service Military-Veteran Services Center we are elevating that assistance exponentially ensuring they successfully meet their goals here at the University and in their personal lives."
Over 600 schools participated in the survey, with 120 receiving recognition in 3 categories: Top online and non-traditional schools, top four-year schools and top two-year schools. The rankings are published in the November issue of Military Times EDGE magazine.
"As with all of the Best for Vets rankings, Best for Vets: Colleges is an editorially independent news project that evaluates the many factors that make an institution a good fit for military veterans," said Amanda Miller, editor of Military Times EDGE.
Located near Offutt Air Force Base in Bellevue, Nebraska, Bellevue University was originally founded to serve the needs of nearby military personnel. Today the University offers several advantages to military students including credit for military training, CLEP testing, DSST testing, an award-winning online platform and career-relevant degrees. The University is also a proud member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) and its military programs team is comprised entirely of veterans who understand the needs of military students.
Earlier this year, the University opened a Military-Veteran Services Center (MVSC) on their main campus. The MVSC provides resources and assistance including the University's Student Veteran's Organization, military outreach team and a dedicated Veterans Affairs representative.
In addition to an unprecedented suite of Veteran services, the University also works with corporate partners to identify how Veterans transitioning to civilian life can help fill gaps in corporate knowledge and skills.
