Beltal Announces Their Beltal.com Website Maintenance is Underway - Customers Advised to Use Beltal.net as Temporary Replacement

SHANGHAI, Nov. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Beltal.com, a reliable China wholesale marketplace for global buyers and sellers, said on the 15th of November that its website has come under attack. The company website is still not fully restored and has not resumed operations. The company has provided a backup website www.beltal.net, which is exactly similar to www.beltal.com, to browse website products or continue transactions. The backup site is meant for customers' current use as of now while www.beltal.com undergoes necessary maintenance as needed.

Till this afternoon, the technical department of Beltal still looks for solutions to solve the issue. They estimated that there might be two reasons that caused the malfunction of Beltal.com – one being the DNS of the domain being attacked and the other is the website being hacked by competitors.

Beltal stated that only a small number of their customers suffered from the attack and there is no breach of customer data. Beltal has made an apology to both sellers and buyers within and outside the website.

"No matter for what purpose the attacker holds, Beltal will try their best to protect the interests of small to medium businesses," said Mary, the director of marketing department. "We are sorry for any inconvenience. Beltal.net has everything that Beltal.com featured. If you couldn't open the original Beltal.com, please view the backup to continue your transaction or selection. We will fix the problem as soon as possible."

The attack comes after Beltal announced their Zero Commission policy online in October. B2B marketplace usually charges certain amount of money for membership or a successfully closed transaction for business operation. Both sellers and buyers on Beltal.com have been benefiting from the policy since its launch.

"We still don't know if our recent policy triggered this attack. But, no matter what's been going on in the recent two months, we will insist upon our zero commission program," said Bernard Zhang, the CEO of Beltal. "We plan to give 3 months for the trial of this policy. If the result turns out well, we will continue."
