Ben Fathi Joins appLariat's Advisory Board
Former VMware CTO Brings Wealth of Experience in Software Development and DevOps
IRVINE, Calif., Jan. 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- appLariat, provider of the industry's only enterprise-grade container automation platform, today announced that Ben Fathi has joined the company's Advisory Board. Leveraging over 35 years of experience in operating systems and distributed system software for leading global ISVs, Fathi will serve as an advisor assisting appLariat with its strategic product innovation.
Over the course of his career, Fathi has held executive-level technical positions delivering some of the most innovative and effective solutions to market. Fathi most recently was Head of Engineering at Cloudflare, an internet security and performance startup. Prior to that, he served as the Chief Technology Officer of VMware as well as SVP of R&D, in charge of the company's flagship vSphere, vSAN, and vCenter products. Prior to VMware, Fathi served as a SVP at Cisco where he oversaw all operating systems and network protocol development for the company. Before that, he worked at Microsoft for a dozen years, managing storage, file systems, security, and eventually all of Windows Core development, culminating in the delivery of Windows 7. Prior to that, he worked at MIPS and Silicon Graphics on supercomputer systems, eventually managing the operating systems group at SGI. Fathi currently advises several startups in a technical capacity and also sits on the board of directors of software-defined infrastructure control provider, Cirba.
"Given Ben's deep expertise in software development and DevOps, we are thrilled that he will be an active member of appLariats's Advisory Board," said Mazda Marvasti, CEO of appLariat. "As appLariat continues to innovate, it is essential that we work with development and IT operations leaders who have lived and breathed the problems associated with developing, deploying and managing complex applications. We look forward to working closely with Ben and utilizing his expertise to guide the continued development of our products."
"The promise of container technology as an enabler of faster release processes, application portability and other cloud native capabilities is marred by the steep learning curve and manual effort required for existing applications," said Fathi. "appLariat's approach to automating the containerization of existing applications, as well as deployment and management of modern application runtimes like Kubernetes to any infrastructure, enables cloud native capabilities for these applications. appLariat has a clear vision for the future of application delivery and management and I look forward to helping the company bring it to fruition."
