SUNRISE, Fla., March 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Choctal Inc., based in Pasadena, California, has been acquired by Ben Stanley Holdings of Sunrise, Florida, owner of SheerBliss Ice Cream. Choctal is known best as the originator of "Single Origin" chocolate and vanilla ice cream flavor profiles. Like SheerBliss Ice Cream, Choctal produces ultra super premium ice cream made with the finest ingredients available. Choctal began operations in 2006 and has established itself as a prominent player among gourmet ice cream brands nationwide. Choctal founder Marc S. Boatwright will be continuing with the brand, while Gary A. Barron, president of Ben Stanley Holdings, will assume the role of president and chief executive officer.

Choctal ice cream products are made using chocolates and vanillas grown around the world, allowing consumers to experience unique and distinct flavor profiles. Much like estate grown wines vary greatly depending on the characteristics of different climates and soils they grow in, the same is true of chocolates and vanillas grown in different countries. Chocolates grown in Costa Rica, Ghana, the islands of Hispaniola and Borneo reflect the differences of the soil from which they are grown. Vanillas from Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and Madagascar also show distinctive characteristics making them so enjoyable to the palate. Each product made by Choctal is unique in both color and taste, and all products are made with natural ingredients and contain no egg products. Food reviewers and consumers alike have hailed Choctal for presenting a product of the highest quality.

Choctal will continue to operate as its own brand and be a partner brand of Ben Stanley Holdings. "Choctal has been singularly important in showing ice cream consumers there is a difference among flavor profiles. The growing knowledge of consumers because of the Food Network and food-based magazines makes the demand for quality products, like Choctal, necessary," said Barron.
