Benedictine High School Inducts Educational Business Leader into Hall of Distinction

CLEVELAND, March 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Joe Chapon, Vice President at Quantum Learning Network, a worldwide leader in teacher and student programs, will be inducted into Benedictine High School's Hall of Distinction on March 10, 2012. This will be the first class of inductees for Benedictine.

Chapon played football, baseball and tennis for Benedictine and was recruited to play at Kent State University in the fall of 1957. Following his collegiate football career, he joined the Peace Corps and traveled to places such as Indonesia and Washington, D.C. helping others in the U.S. and around the world.

James Kazel, a 1955 Benedictine graduate, nominated Joe for this prestigious honor. "Joe has dedicated his life to helping others. With his commitment to the Peace Corps and his involvement with QLN I feel he is a great leader for today's youth, which is why I nominated him for Bendectine's Hall of Distinction."

For the past 30 years Chapon with his wife, Bobbi DePorter, has co-owned Quantum Learning Network. One of the program offerings is SuperCamp, a residential academic camp that also teaches students learning and life skills. These programs are held on prestigious university campuses such as Stanford, Brown and Kent State University.  SuperCamp has grown into a global leader in the academic enrichment programs, and is currently operating programs in 13 countries, along with U.S. locations and has reached over 64,000 students worldwide.

"I chose Kent State University as our first site in Ohio for two reasons. I wanted to thank KSU for their generosity giving me a football scholarship, and I wanted my home town of Cleveland to benefit from our great program," says Chapon.
