MIAMI, Jan. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Benihana Inc., the nation's leading operator of Japanese theme and sushi restaurants, has announced the winners of its 2014 Passport Challenge, a yearlong promotion that took place as part of its 50th anniversary celebration.
Benihana enthusiasts Lee Potter and Jack King have been named the grand prize winners of the promotion. In 2014, 11 participants visited all 72 Benihana restaurant locations, but Potter was chosen at random as the ultimate winner of the challenge. He has won the trip of a lifetime to Tokyo, Japan, for four as well as a $1,000 Benihana gift card to use on future visits. King frequented Benihana at his favorite location in Salt Lake City more than any other participant. He has won a trip for two to the Benihana location of his choice as well as a $1,000 gift card.
In addition, Benihana awarded over 30 more guests with various prizes for their outstanding participation.
Contestants were able to participate in one of two tiers of the promotion: visiting the most Benihana locations across the United States or visiting any one Benihana location as many times as they could. Over 19,000 people took part in the challenge, submitting over 26,000 photos of their visits to Benihana locations across the country.
