Bermuda Targets Global Tech Leaders Following Google's Two Subsea Cable Announcements at Submarine Networks World 2025

SINGAPORE and HAMILTON, Bermuda, Oct. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Bermuda has sent a clear signal to the global subsea communications industry: the Atlantic island is open for business and ready to anchor the next wave of digital connectivity.

At Submarine Networks World 2025 in Singapore—the largest annual gathering of subsea communications professionals—executives from the Bermuda Business Development Agency (BDA) and the Regulatory Authority of Bermuda (RA) showcased Bermuda's growing role as a strategic hub for transatlantic cable development. In tandem with a business attraction mission to Hong Kong, BDA not only attended this year's Submarine Networks World event but also sponsored a high-level networking reception for industry leaders, investors, and technology innovators.

Bermuda's emergence as a digital hub was accelerated by the Submarine Communications Cable Act of 2020, which created a clear and investor-friendly regulatory framework specific to the subsea cable segment. Since then, two major transatlantic cables—Nuvem and Sol— have been announced by tech giant Google to land in Bermuda, the first under the enactment of the recent legislation, putting the island firmly on the map as the Atlantic's next connectivity gateway.

As a part of this session, Davis outlined how Bermuda's approach balances investor confidence with long-term resiliency and sustainability in the industry.

Bermuda's participation in Submarine Networks World 2025 also marked the launch of a wider East Asia engagement mission, with BDA executives traveling on to Hong Kong for investor meetings aimed at deepening ties with businesses seeking to expand across the Atlantic corridor.
