Bernie DiMeo Launches Bernie DiMeo Communications
CHICAGO, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Just a few months after closing DiMeo & Co., his agency of 22-plus years, Bernie DiMeo has announced the opening of Bernie DiMeo Communications (BDC), a public relations firm dedicated to "combining traditional tactics with the potential and power of new media," according to DiMeo.
"I may be an old dog but I have learned some new tricks," DiMeo said. In fact "Old Dog, New Tricks" is the new agency's tag line and is featured on business cards, letterhead and the company's web site. "A lot of agencies that claim to utilize new and social media will exclude traditional public and media relations tactics and channels," DiMeo said.
"Yet other agencies continue to concentrate their efforts on traditional print and broadcast media, while never fully realizing the power of the internet to truly reach their target audience. Bernie DiMeo Communications will combine the best of both worlds," he said.
DiMeo has put together a proven, experienced and diverse team of seasoned PR practitioners, as well as Generation Y internet gurus. The BDC team is spearheaded by several long-time DiMeo staffers, including former Director of Public Relations Robin Boesen, who serves as Vice-President; Vice President/Strategic Planning Keith Romero, a veteran public relations and affairs strategist; and Nick Ulivieri, Account Executive and "new media marvel."
Current clients include the Lake County Fielders, the new professional baseball team co-owned by Kevin Costner set to start its inaugural season this June in a new stadium in Zion; Gold Coast Tickets, Chicago's largest ticket brokerage; and in an unusual twist, Chicago-based ad agency ESW Partners.
"CEO Jim Signorelli and I have been colleagues for a long time, sometimes competing for business and sometimes collaborating on projects. He took me up on my offer to help promote his agency," DiMeo said. "ESW is full-service in every way except for PR, so it's a good fit," he said. A number of clients from the old agency, including Phil Stefani Signature Restaurants, round out the client roster.
"We are lean, mean and hungry to help small to medium-sized businesses build awareness and grow market share," he said. "Most importantly, given today's economy, we will be very affordable," he says. DiMeo adds that he is excited about getting back to his roots – public relations. "It's what I've always felt I do best," he said, "whether it's new media, old media or anything in between. I'm still 'harmlessly twisted and publicity obsessed,' and I'm really looking forward to this."
