Best Food, Best Beer, Best Saturday
Back Forty Beer Plays Host to 2nd Annual "Front Porch Festival"
GADSDEN, Ala., Sept. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Alabama's best chefs, brewers, and artisan food producers invite you to bite into the State's tastiest Saturday with a trip to the Front Porch Festival held at the Back Forty Beer Company. The festivities begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28th. Just $35 buys a ticket bursting with flavor, fun, and music.
This is the second year for the festival, an idea baked up by the Front Porch Revival; a group of young players in Alabama's culinary scene who are committed to supporting local food and culinary talent. This year, the good-time grassroots event received a major boost from one of the State's leaders in hospitality, Wind Creek Casino and Hotel.
"The Front Porch Festival is a party that celebrates the best of Alabama. Good food, good drinks, and good entertainment and all of it put on by the people who make it," said Chef Leo Maurelli, a founding member of Front Porch Revival.
Jay Dorris, President of PCI Gaming, which operates Wind Creek noted, "This is the kind of event we strongly support. Not only is it great entertainment, but it also goes a long way in promoting local Alabama restaurants, purveyors, and growers. We hope that the festival will continue to grow and become a major tourist draw for the State."
Seven local chefs will be cooking for the crowd: Wesley True (True Restaurant in Montgomery), David Bancroft (Acre Restaurant in Auburn), Graham Hage (Zazu in Auburn), Leonardo Maurelli (Central Restaurant in Montgomery), Chris Harrigan (Stones Throw in Mt. Laurel) , Brandon Burleson (Voyagers in Perdido Beach) and Jay Norris (Escape Culinary Studio-Wind Creek Casino & Hotel). The chefs will use products from local suppliers such as the Fatback Pig Project and Alabama Gulf Seafood -- who are also supporters of the event.
Festival-goers will also be treated to samples of Alabama's finest artisanal foods such as cheese from Belle Chevre Creamery and Wickles pickles. The mouth-watering food and refreshing drink will be accompanied by toe-tappin' music from Alabama musicians the Dexateens, the Ben Sutton Band, and Festival Expressions.
