Biggest Gay Deal of Day: $3 Worth of Marriage Equality for Only $1
Gay Social Network Fab.com Supports Freedom To Marry by Doubling Valentine's Day Donations
NEW YORK, Feb. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In honor of Valentine's Day, Fab.com is offering a Big Gay Deal of the Day that even straight folks can get behind. The gay social network today launches a special deal allowing equality lovers of all walks to make a $3 donation to Freedom to Marry for just $1. Fab.com's one-day Valentine offer is timed to coincide with and support Freedom to Marry's new campaign promoting same sex marriage, which kicks off today.
The Big Gay Deal of the Day is a group buying service from Fab.com that typically offers deep discounts on things like subscriptions to Out Magazine and gay-themed DVDs, vacation packages and products. But today, the gay lifestyle website is putting the power of its growing network–and its own money– toward a cause that is literally a big deal for its 120,000 plus members.
"We're very active in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities (LGBT), and we've heard from our members that marriage is the number one issue on their minds when it comes to furthering gay rights and acceptance in the U.S.," said Fab founder and CEO Jason Goldberg. "We've long been supporters of the Freedom to Marry organization, and we're committed to doing our part to make marriage equality a reality for all people, sooner, rather than later."
The first 20,000 people to sign up for today's Big Gay Deal of the Day will get a $3 donation to Freedom to Marry for only $1. Fab.com will pay the remaining $2 on each buyer's behalf. Additionally, if a buyer gets three of their friends to also buy this deal, Fab.com will up their matching donation to $5 for the initial buyer. The deal ends at midnight tonight.
Donations will be used to support the work of Freedom to Marry in winning more states, growing the majority for marriage, and ending federal marriage discrimination.
Today, Freedom to Marry launches Why Marriage Matters, an unprecedented LGBT public education initiative that includes national TV commercials featuring same sex couples sharing stories of love and commitment.
"On Valentine's Day, we celebrate love," said Fab.com's Goldberg. "I can't think of a more fitting time to support the right for all couples to have their love recognized through the commitment of marriage."

We partner with individuals and organizations across the country to end the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage and the protections, responsibilities, and commitment that marriage brings.
