Bija Hemp Announces Success of Largest US Certified Seed Harvest
DENVER, Dec. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Following the successful licensing agreement between Bija Hemp's parent company, International Hemp Solutions, and Poland's Institute of Natural Fibres and Medicinal Plants in October 2017, Bija Hemp would like to take the opportunity to announce the successful harvest of 26,000 pounds of Colorado Seed Growers Association (CSGA) certified hemp seed, the largest domestically grown lot in the United States since the adoption of the 2014 Farm Bill. Initially, Bija planted 183 acres. After surviving a late summer hail storm, 161 acres were harvested.
The variety, Bialobrzekie, is a dual-purpose cultivar, highly sought after by many downstream operators in the grain, fiber, and essential oils market. Bija is positioned to service the sale of 12 metric tons of CSGA certified Bialobrzekie, which can sow approximately 1,040 acres of grain or 473 acres of fiber or any combination thereof by way of locally produced seed stock.
Bija Hemp conducted significant due diligence to comply with federal THC limits in multiple states, partnering with a series of institutions of higher learning and departments of agriculture to assess local acclimation potential prior to commercial propagation in those jurisdictions. This was all done to offer a high level of confidence to operators across the supply chain from farmers to purchasers of the resulting crop.
