Billionaires Bet Big On Canada's Newest $22 Billion Market

Arcview Market Research of San-Francisco predicts that legal marijuana sales will reach close to $22 billion by 2021-up from nearly $7 billion last year. That's an annual growth rate of 26 percent, and it's in line with Deloitte's own estimations.

In Canada alone, Canaccord Genuity predicts that the recreational marijuana industry could reach $6 billion in sales by 2021.

If you haven't considered an entry point into this market yet-the window of opportunity is closing fast. Stocks are already shooting up on anticipation, and by 1 July 2018, high valuations will slam doors shut and only billionaires will come out. By that time, Invictus MD (IMH.V; IVITF) should already be walking with the green giants.

GW Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:GWPH): This biopharmaceutical giant is especially noticeable in the space at the moment. Zybnerba Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:ZYNE) is a company that is diving deep into cannabinoid therapies. Currently, the company has only two drugs in development; ZYN001 and ZYN002. ZYN001, a THC pro-drug patch, aims to treat a number of conditions through a revolutionary transdermal delivery system while ZYN002, another transdermal delivery system, this time through a gel, is the first and only synthetic non-psychoactive CBD drug of its kind. And Zynerba has the patents on both products.

AbbeVie Inc (NYSE:ABBV) is one of the few NYSE listed companies producing marijuana related products. AbbeVie's claim to fame is their synthetic-THC drug, Marinol. The FDA-approved drug has revolutionized treatment of nausea in patients with cancer and is also prescribed to patients with AIDS suffering from appetite loss. This pharmaceutical manufacturer sells its products worldwide and will be even more appealing to investors in the coming years as positions on marijuana become more relaxed.

Aphria Inc (OTC: APHQF) (TSX:APH.TO): Aphria Inc is engaged in the production and selling of medicinal marijuana, and while the stock has trended downward since April, the constant profits here suggest there is a lot of upside. The recent pro-marijuana legislation from the Canadian government is sure to boost companies with the reputation of Aphria Inc.
