SALT LAKE CITY, Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- BizVision, through its strategic alliance with Business Professionals Network, Inc. (BPN), announces the launch of the Bankers Education and Development Network (BEDN). BEDN will provide quality, live and on-demand professional education programming for bankers. The courses will be produced by Dallas-based BPN and delivered via BizVision's robust online video platform to bankers throughout the U.S.
In the few months since its inception, over 20 state banking associations have agreed to offer BEDN to their members and the Independent Community Bankers Association has also become an active sponsor of the network.
"The Bankers Education and Development Network is the second in what we expect to be a long line of vertical industry channels that will be accessible through BizVision," said Rob Chipman, president and CEO of BizVision. "Our strategic partners at BPN have been able to attract state banking societies to BEDN so successfully due to their outstanding reputation for quality production and affiliate support. We are excited to assist them in extending their services to other professions."
In addition to the Bankers Education and Development Network, BPN is the largest provider of live, video-based continuing professional education for the accounting profession through its Accounting Continuing Professional Education Network (ACPEN). The accountant network, which also utilizes the BizVision online video platform, has been broadcasting for 13 years and counts more than 40 state CPA societies and related organizations as affiliates of the ACPEN network.
Jim Parente, BPN chief operating officer, explained, "BEDN is a natural extension of our continuing professional education efforts since, with a long history of serving accounting professionals, it will allow us to reach financial professionals in the banking arena with more targeted accounting training and provide the rest of the banking professional staff with critical information about the tumultuous banking environment in near real time through the BizVision platform.
"The BEDN effort owes much to our alliance with Wynne Baker, CPA, CFSA, CBA, of Nashville, Tennessee, who is intimately involved in the banking industry and who is able to bring the extensive resources of his firm, KraftCPAs, PLLC, and his many professional contacts in the banking industry and association world to guide our content development effort."
Regarding BEDN content, Parente said, "We expect our initial curriculum of quarterly webcast updates to grow to monthly and more frequent, targeted events as we move forward. Our recent December 9 event will be followed by a March 10 update that will combine accounting and compliance information. We will adjust content going forward to meet the emerging needs of all key segments within the financial institution."
In addition to BizVision's on-demand video delivery and e-commerce functionality, the platform features a customized Flash Media player that supports live video with synchronized slides, live chat, downloadable PDFs and slides, as well as certificates of completion. In addition, the platform offers a comprehensive reporting tool that is accessible to both BPN and its affiliates.
BizVision also provides a live helpdesk/technical support team to assist all participants with any issues they encounter, as well as remote video production services.
"BEDN and state bank associations and other affiliates are able to take advantage of the existing BizVision Web infrastructure designed for BPN's ACPEN network and repurpose it for the new BEDN network without significant development or customization expenses," Chipman said. "What's more, since BizVision earns its fees only through successful transactions, our partners don't have to pay any upfront or monthly fees."
