Black and White Tea Party Groups To Hold Major Rally (4-15) In L.A.
California's Future: Greek Tragedy or American Prosperity?
LOS ANGELES, March 22, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Hancock Park Patriots and the South Central L.A. Tea Party (SCLATP) have joined forces to hold a major tax day tea party rally on Sunday, April 15, 2012, from 2-4 p.m. at the Wilshire Federal Building (11000 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles).
The theme for the rally is California's Future: Greek Tragedy or American Prosperity? The rally will focus on solutions for rolling back out-of-control government spending and tax and regulatory policies that are choking off economic growth in California and the nation. Speakers for the event will include well known elected officials, pro-tea party celebrities and citizen activists.
Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, Founder and head of the South Central L.A. Tea Party said, "We want to energize the people for the upcoming election and get active in rolling back, among other things, the California Dream Act and ObamaCare." He added, "This event is being spearheaded by a black-led, inner city-based tea party group and a predominantly white affluent tea party—this unique pairing shows the diversity and growing broad appeal of the tea party movement."
Mark Sonnenklar, Founder and City Coordinator for the Hancock Park Patriots said, "Our group, along with the South Central L.A. Tea Party and many others in Los Angeles County, are organizing this rally to promote our belief that lower taxes, limited government, free markets, and personal freedom and responsibility lead to American prosperity." Sonnenklar added, "It's time for conservatives in Southern California to express their faith in America and the free enterprise system and to reject big government and its free-wheeling spending. We need to send a clear message to all politicians. If we don't make our voices heard now, there may be nothing left to work with after the elections in November."
Other co-sponsors of this event include: Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association; Westwood Tea Party; San Fernando Valley Patriots; South Bay Tea Party; Beverly Hills Tea Party; Santa Monica Tea Party; CA Tea Party Groups Coalition; and Westside Republicans.
