Blackfriday.fm and its sister site, dealspl.us have just released their first glimpse into the biggest Black Friday trends for 2013 as well as some surprising Black Friday survey results. One of the biggest trends blackfriday.fm expects is the movement from Black Friday as a standalone day to something more like a shopping week. Another prediction from blackfriday.fm is that the hottest items this holiday season will be the new gaming systems from Microsoft and Sony. Kiha Lee, the CEO of blackfriday.fm expects to see these new systems used as bait to get shoppers into the stores.
In terms of mobile trends, Mr. Lee believes that "the difference between an online shopper and an in-store shopper will be hard to pick out this year" as an increasing number of shoppers will be using their mobile devices to find the best deals and compare prices.
The survey outlines the most hotly anticipated door busters this year and also teases out some surprising results. Despite the popular myth, only 3% of respondents have actually camped out for a Black Friday sale. Another surprise and one which indicates that Black Friday may continue to lose ground to Cyber Monday is that 64% of respondents indicated a preference for online shopping this Black Friday.
Selected Survey Results:
- 64% prefer online deals on Black Friday.
- 90% plan on spending the same amount or more this year than last.
- 75% have never waited in line more than 3 hours.
