INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Blackboard Inc. ("Blackboard") today announced that their flagship learning management system (LMS), Blackboard Learn, along with its Moodle-based platform Moodlerooms, has experienced strong momentum in recent months through industry accolades and positive market movement.

Blackboard Learn received top honors in a wide field of LMS's in the Campus Technology 2015 Readers' Choice Awards. Blackboard also received top honors in the 'E-Portfolios' and 'Emergency Notifications' categories. Campus Technology surveyed hundreds of education professionals to give their take on products in 29 categories, aimed to "help short-list shopping and fuel decision-making."

In August, Blackboard Learn was identified as a market leader and topped overall satisfaction rankings in a crowdsourced report by G2 Crowd. Blackboard was the only company identified as a Leader in the latest Grid℠ report for Learning Management Systems. According to G2 Crowd, "Leaders offer learning management system (LMS) products that are rated highly by users and have substantial scale, market share, and global support and service resources."

According to the education blog Edutechnica, "Blackboard Learn has seen a significant increase in users over the last year, and to Blackboard's credit, the organization continues its commitment to keeping its Moodlerooms customers up-to-date. Blackboard became the single largest source of institutions running Moodle 2.8 during the past quarter." The report further cemented Blackboard's LMS offerings as the most widely used in the world: "Blackboard Learn and Moodle continue to dominate LMS usage for universities across the US, Canada, UK, and Australia."

Following BbWorld 2015, the company's annual user conference, analyst firm Eduventures wrote the following, "With such heavy investment in developing out such a comprehensive product roadmap, Bb has started down a path that will push this company forward and in the right direction." Focusing on Blackboard's long-term strategy, Eduventures continued, "This, coupled with Bb's already widespread install base and vast global presence, are but obvious reminders that it will only grow stronger and more strategic over time."
