Blackboard Reaches Milestone in FedRAMP Compliance Process
Mission-Critical Solutions Receive Federal Backing in Process Toward Cloud Compliance
WASHINGTON, Aug. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Blackboard Inc. announced today that it is being sponsored by the U.S. Department of the Army, Medical Education and Training Campus (METC) to begin the federal process for compliance of cloud products and services, called Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP).
Blackboard's flagship learning management system, Learn (in a SaaS environment), as well as their industry-leading virtual collaboration technology, have begun review under the FedRAMP process.
Today's announcement represents a major milestone in the company's broader cloud strategy, and marks a step forward toward bringing the industry's most comprehensive set of cloud-based solutions to all customers including the federal government.

This approach uses a "do once, use many times" framework that saves an estimated 30-40% of government costs, as well as both time and staff required to conduct redundant agency security assessments.
