Blackboard Releases Update to Blackboard Learn™ 9.1
Company Committed to its Flagship LMS Through Continued Innovation
WASHINGTON, Oct. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Blackboard Inc. ("Blackboard") today announced an update to the 9.1 version of its flagship learning management system Blackboard Learn™. Today's announcement represents the latest evidence of Blackboard's continued commitment to its customers operating on version 9.1 of its LMS, and is the first in a continuous series of updates and enhancements to the platform.
Included in the update is the Goal Performance Dashboard – a competency-based education tool that allows learners and instructors to easily track progress toward competencies and learning milestones. The dashboard features a fully configurable performance scale for the institution, paired with an easy-to-use cross-course display for learners and instructors, as well as powerful data export for administrators. This is the latest capability for Blackboard Learn that supports competency-based education, adding to existing tools like MyEDU, achievements, goal management and portfolios.
Also included in the update is a powerful new addition to the integration between Blackboard Learn and an institution's student information system (SIS). The new feature, called Grades Journey, allows instructors to seamlessly exchange grade information between LMS and SIS.
Additionally, the update features several key improvements that were made in direct response to customer and industry feedback. These include hundreds of bug fixes and improvements to core components of the educator and student experiences, such as grading, assessments, content editing and notifications. The update also includes workflow enhancements to features like discussions and announcements that make tasks easier and faster for end users.
"As we continue to work very hard to deliver new versions of our core products as part of the New Learning Experience, we want to make sure customers understand that Blackboard Learn 9.1 will continue to be an absolutely critical focus area," said Mark Strassman, SVP of Product Management for Blackboard. "We hope that our customers enjoy the improvements that this update brings them, and we will continue to listen to them to ensure that we bring continued enhancements and innovation in updates to come."
