Blackboard Wins CODiE Award for Best Postsecondary Learning Management System
Blackboard Learn Earns Top Honors From Educators, Administrators, IT Leaders
WASHINGTON, May 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Blackboard Inc. took home one of the software industry's most prestigious honors last week when Blackboard Learn™ was named the Best Postsecondary Course/Learning Management System at the Software & Information Industry Association's (SIIA) 2012 CODiE Awards.
Last year, Blackboard Learn was named the Best Corporate Learning Solution and the Best Professional Education Solution by SIIA. In 2010, the product was also named the Best K-12 Course Management Solution.
"Blackboard is continuously innovating their learning management system to address the current needs of instructors and students which is very important as online education rapidly changes," noted one of the CODiE judges. "Recently added features, such as built-in customizable rubrics and YouTube search tools, are user-friendly and powerful."
The CODiE Awards have honored the software and information industry's finest products and services since 1986. An SIIA CODiE Award win for education technology companies is especially meaningful given that judging is driven by educators, administrators and IT leaders who review nominated products.
"This year's winners reflect excellence and vision," said Karen Billings, vice president for the education division of SIIA. "I'm proud to congratulate them on the success of their applications, platforms, and products."
"We've invested much in building a learning platform that appeals to the needs and interests of educators worldwide," said Ray Henderson, chief technology officer and president of academic platforms for Blackboard. "We've worked hard to evolve both our software and the services that support it. It's great to have this group of educators recognize our progress."
Nearly 2,000 institutions have adopted the latest version of Blackboard Learn to take advantage of the platform's improved stability, social learning tools, digital content integrations and greater workflow efficiencies. Blackboard also offers a free, cloud-based course option for instructors – CourseSites™ – that is based on the latest version of Blackboard Learn and includes integrated capabilities for mobile learning, Web conferencing and collaboration and mass notification.
