ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Bloomberg BNA today announced it will provide Bloomberg Law, a leading all-in-one technology platform for the legal industry, at no cost to the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia (D.C. Legal Aid). Washington, D.C.'s oldest and largest civil legal services organization, D.C. Legal Aid provides pro bono representation to clients living in poverty on matters involving domestic violence/family, housing, public benefits, and consumer law.
"We are delighted to offer our support to the Legal Aid Society of the District of Columbia in this way," said Melanie Heller, Vice President and General Manager of Bloomberg Law. "Given D.C. Legal Aid's reputation and established role in D.C., the organization was a natural fit as we looked for the most effective way to assist those offering pro bono legal services to the vulnerable members of our local community."
"This is a very generous commitment from Bloomberg BNA that will directly benefit those most at risk in the District," said D.C. Legal Aid Executive Director Eric Angel. "It puts the best legal technology available today at the disposal of our lawyers and clients. This is a gift we will wholeheartedly accept and utilize to its fullest."
"To do our best work, we need the best tools, and technology and information services represent a very significant cost," said D.C. Legal Aid Board Member Alon Vogel. "Having complimentary access to Bloomberg Law means we can instead devote our financial resources to serving people in need, hiring strong lawyers to represent them, and furthering our mission. We can't thank Bloomberg BNA enough."
The partnership with D.C. Legal Aid is a continuation of Bloomberg BNA's commitment to supporting the local community. In December, Bloomberg BNA announced it would offer Bloomberg Law at no cost to the D.C. Affordable Law Firm, which provides affordable, high-quality legal services to residents who do not qualify for legal aid, as well as small businesses and nonprofits in the District.
