WASHINGTON, Dec. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Partnership to Improve Patient Care (PIPC) and Bloomberg Government will co-host "Achieving Patient-Centered CER: Looking Ahead to 2013" a forum on how implementation of patient-centered comparative effectiveness research (CER) is progressing at the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) on Friday, December 14, from 10 am – 12 noon at the Capitol Visitor Center. Brian Rye, healthcare analyst with Bloomberg Government, will moderate a panel discussion with health care leaders on advancing patient-centered CER, followed by a keynote speech by Dr. Joe Selby, the executive director of PCORI.

PIPC has been a strong advocate for patient-centered CER and has been dedicated to supporting PCORI's successful implementation. The keystone of PCORI's work is producing and promoting comparative clinical effectiveness research that is responsive to the research gaps identified by patients, physicians, and providers, with the ultimate goal of helping people make better informed healthcare decisions. Bloomberg Government and PIPC are holding this forum to discuss how CER is progressing at PCORI, with focused attention on how input from stakeholders, including patients and providers, is being incorporated in a meaningful way in PCORI's research priorities.
