SALEM, Ore., April 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Blue Star Gas, with the support of the Columbia-Willamette Clean Cities Coalition, announces the grand opening of a public propane autogas card-lock station in Salem, Ore., at 12:30 p.m. PT today. This latest effort to make autogas fueling readily available to Pacific Northwest fleets arrives on the heels of the new Blue Star Gas public autogas station in Medford, which opened in February.
Clean-burning, economical autogas is the most widely used alternative fuel in the world. The U.S. supply of autogas is 90 percent domestically produced and currently yields savings of more than $1 per gallon versus gasoline in Medford and Salem. As the flagship West Coast autogas provider for the Alliance AutoGas network, Blue Star Gas's Salem station makes this eco-friendly, American-made fuel a viable alternative for Oregon fleets.
Alliance AutoGas is a nationwide network of propane industry professionals that provides autogas vehicle conversions, on-site fueling infrastructure, fuel supply and ongoing technical support.
"We are eager to help area fleets get up and running on clean, cost-effective propane autogas," says Blue Star Gas Director of Marketing Darren Engle, who recently appeared on Medford's "The Bill Meyer Show" and testified as an expert witness in the Oregon State House of Representatives regarding alternative fuel legislation. "Our Salem station is yet another step forward in our efforts to make the West Coast a leader in utilizing autogas. We're celebrating that by hosting an open house to give folks in Salem the opportunity to drive one of our autogas vehicles."
The Blue Star Gas Salem station grand opening attendees will include Blue Star Gas President Jeff Stewart, representatives of the Keizer and Salem Chambers of Commerce, members of the Columbia-Willamette Clean Cities Coalition and the North Salem Business Association, as well as the Statesman Journal. A press conference announcing the station unveiling is open to the media and the general public, and autogas vehicles will be available to test drive following the 12:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony.
