WASHINGTON, Jan. 22 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- EPIC will be hosting a panel discussion on the deployment of whole body imaging machines and their privacy implications at the National Press Club on Monday, January 25, 2010. The Press Club is located at 529 14th Street, NW, Washington, D.C. Registration begins at 8:30 am ET. The event begins at 9:00 am ET. The event will be held in the First Amendment Lounge.
A panel of privacy experts will discuss the current and proposed use of whole body imaging machines in airports following the attempted December 25 plane bombing as well as the challenges to privacy they pose. Panelists will include Anita Allen, Privacy Law Scholar and Deputy Dean University of Pennsylvania Law School, James Bamford, author of "The Shadow Factory," Jeff Rosen, professor of Law at Georgetown University Law School and Legal Affairs Editor of the New Republic, Marc Rotenberg, Executive Director of the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC), and Bruce Schneier, world renowned security technologist and author.
