Bolin Marketing And Tribe Global Partner With Survival International To Raise Awareness Of Earth's Most Threatened Tribe
MINNNEAPOLIS, Feb. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Human rights organization Survival International has launched a worldwide advertising campaign to raise awareness of the plight of Brazil's Awa tribe, the Earth's most threatened tribe. The ad campaign, entitled "Stop Complaining," was developed by Minneapolis-based Bolin Marketing, part of Tribe Global, a global network of independent advertising and communication agencies.
"We were honored to be part of this opportunity to raise awareness of the threatened Awa tribe," said Todd Bolin, CEO of Bolin Marketing. "Survival International viewed Tribe Global as the perfect partner for this assignment because of our global footprint and the fact that we are all extremely passionate about bringing attention to this issue."
The campaign tells the harrowing story of Karapiru, an Awa man who witnessed the massacre of his brothers, sisters, children and wife at the hands of gunmen. Karapiru fled to the forest, where he lived alone and on the run for 10 years.
The ad reads, "For ten years he (Karapiru) ran alone, sleeping in treetops, eating small birds and honey. Finally reunited with his Awa tribe, he discovered that, incredibly, his son had survived the massacre. His people still live under the threat of extinction due to violent attacks and the theft of their land by loggers and ranchers. Reconsider your problems compared with the plight of the Awa. Please. Send a message. Send hope. The Awa can be saved."
The ad supports Survival International's urgent campaign to save the Awa. Supporters around the world are using the campaign's awaicon to spread the message, and nearly 50,000 protest letters have been sent to Brazilian authorities.
Stephen Corry, director of Survival International, said, "Karapiru's tragic story is but one of many – most go undocumented. Only the Brazilian government has the power to end these brutal attacks on its tribal citizens. How? By evicting illegal invaders from the Awa's land before it's too late."
The campaign relies on pro bono media placement support. It is scheduled to appear in magazines such as Vanity Fair, Vogue, Easy Living, American Express Magazine, House & Garden and many others.
