Borland-Groover Clinic Encourages Patients To Fight For Access To High-Quality Healthcare
Many Florida Blue Patients Left In Compromising Medical-Care Situations Following Contractual Dispute with the Insurance Company
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Oct. 26, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Borland-Groover Clinic, the largest gastroenterology service provider in the region, is encouraging patients and the general public to contact Florida Blue Health Insurance and ask for access to the high-quality prevention and treatment services provided by the Clinic. Florida Blue's resistance to discuss fair and reasonable rates with Borland-Groover Clinic has left many patients in a compromising medical-care situation, resulting in interrupted treatment plans. Borland-Groover is asking the community to encourage Florida Blue to reconsider its actions, engage in realistic rate discussions and allow patients to continue sufficient access to quality care.
The company has developed a website, www.NotTrueBlue.com where concerned citizens can sign a petition designed to show Florida Blue that the community puts people, not profits, first.
"Borland-Groover Clinic tried in good-faith to reach an agreement with Florida Blue. Their response, was focused on profits, not the effect their actions had on people they represent," said Kyle P. Etzkorn, MD, vice president and chief operating officer of Borland-Groover Clinic. "The rates we proposed are fair and based on a minimal 2 percent inflationary increase, unavoidable due to rising healthcare costs. Their response was to demand unrealistic rates and reduce access to life-saving prevention services such as screening colonoscopies."
While Borland-Groover Clinic's position during any re-negotiation is to continue providing high-quality care to all, including those insured with Florida Blue, patients are already expressing trouble locating new physicians in the Florida Blue network to continue their treatment. The clinic's hope is to mutually reach an agreement that will allow it to continue providing the high-quality care the clinic is known for and provide needed services to patients.
"We are grateful to our patients for choosing Borland-Groover Clinic for their gastroenterology healthcare needs, and we will do anything we can to help them have Borland-Groover continue their care," said Dr. Etzkorn.
