Boston National Purchases Majority Stake In Colorado's Canyon Title

CHARLOTTE, N.C., April 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Boston National Title Agency of Charlotte, NC and Canyon Title of Denver, CO announce today an equity partnership between the two, independent title services providers. The announcement marks the second significant purchase made by Boston National in less than a year.  In September 2014, the company acquired a majority stake in New York's Insignia Title Agency; now Insignia-BNT.  Boston National has now purchased a majority stake in Canyon Title although the exact terms were not disclosed. 

According to Boston National CEO John Keratsis, the primary benefit to both organizations is the product line diversification necessary to provide a greater range of services to a larger spectrum of clients.  "Our differentiating strength is our national service platform delivered locally by exceptional people," says Keratsis. "The Canyon team has built a stellar reputation in Colorado and for residential purchase in particular.  Now we can help them expand into our core service lines— consumer direct, commercial, REO and the national purchase market — while they help us grow our Colorado purchase and real estate developer business." Boston National has built its reputation on bucking the large insurers' assembly-line approach for a service delivery model that wraps a dedicated processing team around the client.  As independent providers Boston National and now Canyon-BNT can give specialized, highly responsive and focused attention to each customer – thereby expediting transactions, reducing loan fallout rates and delivering happier homeowners at the end of the process.

According to Canyon CEO Robert Lindley, the capital infusion that comes with the transaction is key to meeting the company's goals. "We want to diversify intelligently," says Lindley. "This transaction will allow us to invest in the resources we'll need to aggressively pursue additional product lines.  We are confident that this will lead to greater sustainability, growth and opportunity for all."

Founded in 2001, Canyon has offices in downtown Denver and the Denver Tech Center in Greenwood Village, with immediate plans for a new office in Westminster.  The company currently claims 3% of the Colorado market share.  Boston National is among the nation's leading independent title services providers with more than 150 clients — including master services agreements with four of the top 10 lenders — 200 employees and nine full service offices.
