Bota-Nik, LLC to Bring Columbia University's Transformational All Natural Antimicrobial Discoveries to Market
NEW YORK, Jan. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Bota-Nik announced today an exclusive worldwide licensing agreement with Columbia University for the patented discovery of an all-natural and eco-friendly disinfection formulation to replace triclosan in soaps and other consumer products.
Bota-Nik's goal is to provide the most effective disinfectant products with minimal impact on the natural environment. The innovative and patented line of products contain a formulation of natural botanicals and essentials oils with natural disinfecting activity and performance equivalent or superior to some of the best antimicrobial technologies in the market. The Columbia licensed technology will be deployed in several disinfectants including a wide array of low alcohol or no alcohol sanitizers, soaps, and cleansers.
All of the products will be produced and bottled in the United States.
Bota-Nik, LLC is based on Shanta Modak's research at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Bota-Nik products do not contain synthetic antiseptics such as quaternary ammonium compounds (QAC), phenolics (Triclosan, Parachlorometaxylenol (PCMX)), and harsh chemicals such as sodium hypochlorite that often cause skin irritation.
