
Botsford Commons' Experts in Aging Offer Seniors Free Screenings
FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Nov. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Botsford Commons Senior Community is once again offering free memory screenings on Tuesday, Nov. 15 as part of National Memory Screening Day 2011.
National Memory Screening Day is an annual collaborative effort spearheaded by the Alzheimer's Foundation of America to promote early detection and treatment of Alzheimer's and other illnesses.
In addition to the memory screenings, Botsford Commons will offer depression and balance screenings, as well as driving simulations conducted by the team of Richard A. Young, Ph.D. Dr. Young is a renowned research professor of psychiatry and behavioral neurosciences at Wayne State University and is currently working on a research project that would work toward "improving the prediction of fitness-to-drive in the elderly, and the early detection of cognitive impairments that may be predictive of eventual Alzheimer's disease."
The majority of the screenings will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; however the balance screenings are only available from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. To make an appointment, please call (248) 426-6930. Light refreshments will be served.
