Bottom Dollar Food To Open Two New Stores In Philadelphia, Pa., Market October 31

SALISBURY, N.C., Oct. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Bottom Dollar Food will open two new stores on October 31 at 6301 Chew Ave., in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pa., and 217 Butler Ave. in Ambler, Pa., bringing the market total for the discount grocery chain to 43 stores.

The first 200 customers at the new locations on Thursday will receive a free Bottom Dollar Food reusable bag filled with groceries, and additional customers will receive free reusable bags throughout the day. The new stores will open to the public at 8 a.m., following ribbon-cutting ceremonies. Hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday at both locations.

The two new stores add approximately 100 jobs to the greater Philadelphia economy. With the addition of the two new locations, Bottom Dollar Food now operates 62 stores in New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Each store is approximately 18,000 square feet.

Philadelphia, Pa., (Germantown) Grand Opening Details

The Germantown store will open to the public at 8 a.m. following ribbon-cutting ceremonies. Former Philadelphia football player Bill Bergey will greet customers and sign autographs from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

As part of the grand opening festivities in Germantown, Bottom Dollar Food will donate $2,000 to support hunger relief efforts in the neighborhood. A donation of $1,000 will be presented to Jenkintown UMC Food Cupboard, and another $1,000 donation will be presented to Germantown Avenue Crisis Center.  

"One of my goals as mayor has been to increase access to healthy, affordable food," said Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter. "This new store brings just that to Germantown. I'm excited for residents to have a great option for food shopping in their neighborhood and for more jobs to be added to the local economy." 

The Germantown location adds approximately 55 jobs to the local economy. 

Ambler, Pa., Grand Opening Details

The Ambler Pa., store will open to the public at 8 a.m. following ribbon-cutting ceremonies. Former Philadelphia football player Mike Evans will greet customers and sign autographs from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

As part of the grand opening festivities in Ambler, Bottom Dollar Food will donate $2,000 to support hunger relief efforts in the community. A donation of $1,000 will be presented to Mattie Dixon Community Cupboard, and another $1,000 donation will be presented to Chelten Baptist Seeds of Hope Community Food Pantry.

This Bottom Dollar Food will help to keep Ambler a walking community, which is what has attracted so many people to live here," said Ambler Mayor Bud Wahl.
