CHICAGO, May 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Fifteen years after opening its first store in Chicago, Bluemercury Inc., the nation's largest and fastest-growing luxury beauty products and spa retail chain announced the opening of its flagship in the River North neighborhood. To celebrate, Bluemercury hosted a VIP event on May 18th in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago. 20% of the day's sales were donated to the BGCC, which offers academic and social after-school activities for at-risk students in some of Chicago's most challenged neighborhoods.
The sweeping 3,653 square-foot flagship, located at 356 North Clark Street, is emblematic of Bluemercury's foray into a larger store size retail format. Its location, on the corner of North Clark and Kinzie Street, speaks to Bluemercury's strategy of embedding itself into their consumers' routines by opening stores in close proximity to where they live and work.
"We are delighted to be celebrating the opening of Bluemercury's newest store in Chicago. Thanks to Bluemercury's commitment to the Chicago community, the support raised at tonight's event will impact the lives of Chicago's neediest children by giving them a safe and productive place to go during the afterschool hours," explained Mimi LeClair, President and CEO of BGCC.
"Chicago will forever be part of our foundation since it is home to two of the first 10 stores in our fleet. We continue to see this market as a major vehicle for growth; River North will be our seventh store in Chicago, and we plan to open up to six additional locations in 2017," explained Barry Beck, Bluemercury Founder and Chief Operating Officer. Of the River North District, he noted, "It is one of the best downtown neighborhoods in America's third largest city. River North is colorful and energetic, with one of the highest concentrations of restaurants, entertainment venues and luxury residential living in the nation. We are thrilled for the women of this community to be able pop into Bluemercury to discover new luxury beauty products and to continue to fulfill our mission of being the best in the world at giving beauty advice. "
The Chicago flagship houses more than 90 highly coveted, luxury beauty brands, including longtime Bluemercury favorites such as La Mer, Skinceuticals, Darphin, Trish McEvoy, NARS, Oribe, and Molton Brown along with Bluemercury's two proprietary brands M-61 Powerful Skincare and color cosmetics line Lune + Aster. The flagship will include a full service spa that will offer customized facials, microdermabrasion, waxing, and other services.
Barry Beck explains, "Bluemercury merges luxury beauty with innovation and a hyper-personalized customer experience, and we've found the Chicago market to be very receptive to our approach. We are seeing tremendous results that are far above our expectations and intend to blanket the great city of Chicago with more stores to keep up with the increased demand for our products and services."
The VIP event was hosted by Barry Beck, Mimi LeClair, President and CEO of BGCC, Chris Kirtley, BGCC Board President, Susan Gallagher, Alli Fazzio, Aryn Brechwald, Briana Fosnaugh, Corinne Cricks Offutt, and Meg Sauer of BGCC.
Bluemercury is continuing the celebration with special in-store offers on Saturday, May 20th. The first 100 clients to shop the new store will receive a complimentary sample gift bag and branded tote.
