Bradley J. Bondi, Former Deputy General Counsel of Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission and Counsel to two SEC Commissioners, Joins Cadwalader Partnership

NEW YORK, Dec. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, a leading counselor to global financial institutions and corporations, today announced the addition of Bradley J. Bondi to its impressive roster of top securities, litigation, and regulatory attorneys. Mr. Bondi joins the Firm as Partner in the Washington, D.C. office.

Mr. Bondi comes to the Firm from the Securities and Exchange Commission ("SEC"), from which he was recently detailed as Deputy General Counsel to the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission ("FCIC"), a bipartisan commission established by Congress to investigate the causes of the financial crisis. While at the FCIC, Mr. Bondi led a team of lawyers, investigators, and accountants examining the causes of the crisis relating to credit rating agencies, securitization, structured financial products, housing policies, and financial institutions.

Before his detail to the FCIC, Mr. Bondi served as counsel to SEC Commissioners Troy Paredes and Paul Atkins, advising on enforcement actions and regulatory rulemaking. More recently, Mr. Bondi also served briefly as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Mr. Bondi counseled SEC Commissioners Troy Paredes and Paul Atkins on issues relating to short selling, hedge funds, investment banks, broker-dealers, investment advisers, mutual fund fees and disclosures, and money market funds. As primary enforcement counsel to both Commissioners Paredes and Atkins, he advised the commissioners on enforcement actions, investigations, and policies, and regularly interacted with enforcement officials at SEC headquarters and in the regional offices. In addition, Mr. Bondi served on the Commission's steering committee for the SEC Long-Range Strategic Plan and working groups for enforcement initiatives.

Prior to his government service, Mr. Bondi was a partner with Kirkland & Ellis and an associate with Williams & Connolly. He represented companies and individuals at trial and on appeal in a wide range of complex criminal and civil matters. He also counseled clients in regulatory and congressional investigations, and advised boards of directors and senior management regarding corporate governance and compliance.

Mr. Bondi is a frequent speaker at business and legal conferences and a prolific author of articles on securities law, criminal law, and corporate governance. His articles have appeared in law journals of Harvard University, New York University, Northwestern University, the University of Virginia, and Fordham. He also teaches securities law as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center and George Mason University School of Law.

Mr. Bondi earned a B.S. (with highest honors), M.B.A. (Finance and Management), and J.D. (with high honors, Order of the Coif) from the University of Florida. He finished at the top of his class in each degree program. After law school, he clerked for Judge Edward E. Carnes of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Mr. Bondi also earned an L.L.M. (with distinction) in securities and financial regulation from Georgetown University Law Center, achieving a perfect grade point average and earning seven book awards, and he holds a certificate in Executive Leadership from Cornell University.
