Brammo Auctions Signed Photos in Remembrance of Mark Buckley
Proceeds to benefit the Buckley Family
ASHLAND, Ore., Nov. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Brammo, Inc., an electric motorcycle manufacturer based in Ashland, Oregon is holding a fundraising auction for the widow and family of deceased rider Mark Buckley. Buckley was killed in a fatal accident while racing in the Northwest 200 SuperStock in Northern Ireland this past May. All proceeds from today's auction will be deposited in a fund for the benefit of his family.
Mark was one of the first riders to take a podium in the nascent days of electric motorcycle racing, taking third place on Brammo's TTR race bike in the first TTXGP race on the Isle of Man in 2009. Brammo honors Mark by auctioning signed photos of him racing in the pioneering electric motorcycle race on the Island.
"When someone's chosen livelihood is as fraught with risk as is the life of a motorcycle racer, their epilogue often includes the phrase, 'he died doing what he loved.' We think this misses the point when we look at Mark Buckley's life," says Craig Bramscher, CEO of Brammo. "We think Mark lived his life doing what he loved. During his too-few 35 years, he was known by his fellow racers and the members of his teams as a seemingly incongruous character who was both a loveable jokester and a fierce competitor."
In addition to his contributions to the sport of motorcycle racing, Mark is remembered as a loving husband and father to his wife, Jayne, and their four children, Aaron, Murrin, Abbie and Mollie.
