With BRO's previous streaming solution, the company typically transferred 65 GB of content each quarter, and delivery success rates were below 20 percent in some key foreign territories -- 17 percent in India, for example.  The company is now seeing delivery success rates over 90 percent in India, and similar performance improvements in the rest of its top 20 global regions.  With the ability to deliver and cache files across Akamai's globally-distributed network, BRO transferred more than 1 terabyte of content during Q1 2010 alone -- more than 15 times the volume of content delivered by the company in preceding quarters.

Previously, visitors in many foreign countries would attempt to view a product demonstration and leave when the content would not play reliably.  A relatively small subset of visitors would then request demonstration CDs and DVDs that the company has made available, but the majority of these opportunities to put content in front of qualified prospects were simply lost without a reliable online viewing system in place.
