British Cyclists Reach New York After Crossing America on Cross-continental Cycle Ride
LONDON, July 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
A team of British architects and planners have reached the halfway mark across America on their cross-continental research project and charity cycle ride.
After setting off from America's west coast on April 27, 2013, the group has reached New York. The team of amateur cyclists (who range in age from 26 to 72) have already crossed thirteen states taking in the cycling mecca of Portland Oregon, travelling across the Rocky Mountains of Montana to the open plains of South Dakota. They have faced extreme weather conditions including golf-sized hail stones as well as 25mph head winds.
Boris Johnson, Mayor of London, said: 'This is a stonking charity initiative, combining a love of cycling with an ambition to know more about how the beloved bicycle is fast becoming a credible form of urban transport in cities around the world.'
Team Chairman, Peter Murray is available for interviews between his cycling schedule.
