Brookdale Senior Living Brings Dementia Care Options to Two Chicagoland Communities
CHICAGO, May 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The number of Illinois seniors living with Alzheimer's and dementia is expected to climb 24 percent by 2025, according to the Alzheimer's Association. Two Brookdale Senior Living communities will soon be able to accommodate those in different stages of the disease by creating spaces within the existing buildings designed specifically for those with Alzheimer's and related dementias.
Combined, the projects total a $4 million investment and will create dozens of new jobs in the area. Brookdale is the nation's largest dementia care and senior living provider. The projects are part of a capital investment and community management joint venture between Brookdale and HCP, further solidifying the long term relationship between the two companies.
Brookdale Prospect Heights, a Brookdale managed community, is located at 700 East Euclid Avenue. The expansion consists of converting existing space into 26 new apartments for those in the early stages of dementia. It will feature Brookdale's Clare Bridge Crossings programming designed to help maintain abilities and possibly slow the disease's advancement by participating in activities that build up brain synapses and resilience.
"This expansion of our existing Clare Bridge Alzheimer's and dementia care program gives us the ability to help impact those with the disease sooner in its progression," said Brookdale Prospect Heights executive director Vicki Munoz.
Also managed by Brookdale is Brookdale Burr Ridge located at 6801 High Grove Boulevard. This project consists of converting existing assisted living apartments into 26 new apartments for those in the mid to late stages of dementia.
