Brookfield Place Partners with Top Organizations to Honor NYC Pride Week with "LOVE WINS" Letter Installation
Brookfield, American Express, BNY Mellon, City National, OppenheimerFunds, RBC, and Time Inc. collaborate to celebrate diversity
NEW YORK, June 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of New York City's Pride Week, Brookfield Place announces its interactive visual activation entitled the "LOVE WINS" Letter Project. The installation will consist of the words "LOVE WINS" crafted into large acrylic 3D block letters that will be on display for Brookfield Place visitors atop the grand staircase in the iconic Winter Garden. Brookfield has partnered with tenants including American Express, BNY Mellon, City National, OppenheimerFunds, RBC, and Time Inc. to bring the display to life. The installation will be revealed on June 18, 2016 and will continue to spread the love in the Winter Garden until June 27, 2016.
The community is invited to fill the installment with colorful love letters in order to ultimately create a vibrant display that will honor the LGBTQ community. Ambassadors from the organizations will be on site throughout the duration of the installation, in order to further educate visitors and create added awareness for what the initiative supports.
"It is encouraging to witness the impact of collaboration and inclusiveness among our corporate and retail tenants as we celebrate New York City's Pride Week," said Callie Haines, Senior Vice President of Asset Management for Brookfield. "The diverse offerings at Brookfield Place, from restaurants and luxury retail to the robust arts program and the waterfront setting, offer one of New York's most unique and exciting live, work, play environments to which people return again and again. Our iconic location provides the perfect backdrop for Love Wins, which champions love and equality for all members of our community."
The participating organizations will further commemorate Pride Week by hosting a happy hour fundraiser on June 22 at Le District's outdoor terrace to raise contributions and awareness for The Ali Forney Center and The Hetrick-Martin Institute, two organizations that support LGBTQ youth, as well as Equality Florida, which is currently raising funds in support of the victims and families affected by the tragic events in Orlando on June 12. Guests will have an opportunity to participate in a silent auction with special items and experiences donated by various Brookfield Place luxury retailers. A portion of the happy hour proceeds will also be contributed to the charities by Le District.
Brookfield is proud to share Pride Week's mission to inspire, educate, commemorate and celebrate a diverse community.
