"Every day, teachers and administrators across Broward County Public Schools work to educate our students on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle," said Superintendent Runcie. "The Turkey Trot is an opportunity to show Broward youth, as well as our entire community, that fitness can be fun, and it's all for a good cause."
The 5th Annual 2015 Turkey Trot and Paddle will support two local community organizations committed to developing leadership, inspiring community service, and promoting health and wellness - iTRACE Foundation, Inc., a preventative health and wellness research foundation and the Leadership Broward Foundation, Inc., committed to inspiring community service and leadership development.
"I'm looking forward to seeing the community come together. It doesn't matter if you walk, run or paddle – this is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, get exercise and help others at the same time," said Runcie.
The 5th Annual Turkey Trot and Paddle kicks off at 7:30 a.m. on A1A, one block south of Las Olas Boulevard. The race route extends north along A1A to Sunrise Boulevard and finishes back at Las Olas Boulevard. Participants have the option to walk, run or paddleboard.
Registration for the event can be done on-line or in person at one of the packet pickup locations or on-site on race day. The deadline for online registration is November 22, 2015. Registration ranges from $20 - $35 for adults, and the Kid's Dash is $5.
If you are unavailable to participate in the 5k, there are volunteer and sponsorship opportunities. To find out more about the 5th Annual Fort Lauderdale Turkey Trot and Paddle, visit http://www.turkeytrotftl.com.
