MOUNT VERNON, Wash., March 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Brown Line, LLC, a refrigerated motor carrier based in the Pacific Northwest, has expanded its national network by acquiring the operations of Port Side Trucking Inc., a refrigerated trucking company based in Kent, Wash. The acquisition will be complete March 31.
Brown Line offers temperature-controlled, less-than-truckload (LTL) specialized service to customers along the West Coast. It provides scheduled service to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Diego, Chicago, Boston and Minneapolis from the Puget Sound area and Southern British Columbia. Port Side Trucking provides service from the Pacific Northwest to Boise, Salt Lake City, Denver and Portland.
Adding the routes from Port Side to Brown Line's service area will benefit customers of both companies and provide a seamless, high-quality refrigerated delivery network.
"Port Side serves markets that complement our existing services and allows us to offer customers a true one-stop-shop for shipping all temperature-controlled commodities," says Jason Jansen, Brown Line President. "Brown Line's specialty is shipping seafood and other delicate freight. Now we can offer customers additional delivery areas and a variety of choices in shipping fresh, frozen and non-refrigerated freight. We are now positioned to serve the West Coast, Midwest, Northeast and British Columbia with the fastest door-to-door service available."
Earlier this year, Brown Line joined the Smart Way Transport Partnership, collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and transportation companies to voluntarily improve fuel efficiency and reduce air pollution from freight transport. Many shippers use Smart Way partners exclusively for transportation. Brown Line is also upgrading its equipment in 2011 with more efficient tractors and trailers.
Brown Line, LLC is part of the Lynden family of companies whose combined capabilities include: truckload and less-than-truckload transportation, scheduled and charter barges, rail barges, intermodal bulk chemical hauls, scheduled and chartered air freighters, domestic and international air forwarding, international ocean forwarding, customs brokerage, trade show shipping, remote site construction, sanitary bulk commodities hauling, and multi-modal logistics. Lynden companies are repeat winners in the annual Quest for Quality customer service awards presented by Logistics Management magazine.
