Bruce Wirth Joins Cardno TBE as Assistant Director of Water Resources

CLEARWATER, Fla., May 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Cardno TBE is pleased to announce that Bruce Wirth has joined the firm as Assistant Director of Water Resources in the Clearwater, Florida office. Mr. Wirth has over 30 years of professional experience and knowledge in water resource management, permitting, resource assessment, project implementation and executive management.

In this role, Mr. Wirth will support the Water Resources group in business development, project management, permit support and client liaison.

Most Recently, Mr. Wirth was the deputy executive director of the Southwest Florida Management District, which encompasses roughly 10,000 square miles in all or part of 16 counties in Florida and serves a population of more than 5 million people. For the last eight years in that position, Mr. Wirth oversaw the District's interests in water supply, conservation, flood management, environmental restoration, land acquisition and use, capital project development and implementation.

He has worked with most all local governments in west-central Florida in matters of water supply, flood protection, water quality and environmental restoration, including work with the other four Water Management Districts within the state, Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Army Corps. 

Previous to that role, Mr. Wirth worked for the Southwest Florida Management District as both a Director of Resource Projects and Director of Permitting and Regulation for 15 years. An accomplished engineer, Mr. Wirth has more than 30 years experience with forging partnerships and providing innovative solutions.

He holds a BS in civil engineering with a concentration in water resources from the University of South Florida and an MS in business administration from the University of Saint Leo. Mr. Wirth has been a Florida registered professional engineer since 1988 and is a member of the Pinellas Chapter of Florida Engineering Society. In addition, Mr. Wirth was the co-chairman of the Peace River Basin Management committee and was executive liaison to the Lake Panasoffkee Restoration Council.
