DALLAS, Aug. 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In comments submitted to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) today, BT called on the FCC to quickly move forward with real reform of the critical business data services (BDS) marketplace. Lack of competition in this market has a substantial economic impact on all communities. Reform requiring price reductions for BDS to competitive levels would help to reverse these effects. In fact, recent analysis shows that significant price reductions could increase the availability of services and decrease the economic burden on consumers, while at the same time increasing revenues for incumbent providers by growing demand from their customers.
We're also pleased to see a diverse group of industry players working together to promote competition and innovation, as presented in the Verizon/INCOMPAS proposal announced today.
After the largest and most comprehensive data collection in the history of the FCC, we thank the Commission for their work on BDS and urge them to move quickly towards implementing 21st Century rules that reflect the reality of today's marketplace.
