Bugcrowd Looks to Expand Researcher Community

Aims to become one of the first crowdsourced security companies with a strong Latin American presence

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Bugcrowd, the innovator in crowdsourced security, today announced its dedication to growing its network of independent security researchers in Latin America. This community of researchers, also known as the Crowd, is comprised of more than 12,500 "good guy" hackers from around the world who have opted to partake in the 125 Bugcrowd bug bounty programs conducted to date.

The Latin American countries currently represented on Bugcrowd's platform include Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. As it stands, the Crowd's Latin American presence breaks down with the following numbers:

Argentina - 36%
Brazil - 26%
Mexico - 17%
Colombia - 16%
Peru - 5%

In an effort to grow the Crowd to more accurately reflect the global researcher talent base, Bugcrowd has started taking steps to make its platform more user-friendly for Latin American researchers. In order to do so, Bugcrowd has implemented the following updates:

Sponsoring BSides Colombia security conference to help develop and share information security knowledge on highly technical subjects, and in an innovative environment.
Translating the Frequently Asked Questions landing page for researchers looking for information on the Bugcrowd website to Spanish.
Additionally, Bugcrowd is attending the 2014 ekoparty Security Conference in Buenos Aires from Oct. 29-31, to assist with recruiting efforts in the region and to educate the local researcher community on Bugcrowd's current programs. During the conference, Bugcrowd will also be doubling down their bounties.
