The Kids is a transformative television show, written by students, that chronicles the lives of real high school kids in Los Angeles, focusing on themes of social justice from the perspective of LA youth. Los Angeles is a city rich in economic, racial, and social diversity, and the show will strive to reflect the diversity in our own backyard.
By working directly with the LA public school system, the show will develop and implement a unique creative writing program to give students a chance at sharing their stories on the small screen. Stories submitted by students will be based on real life events, but in order to optimize characters, storylines, plots, and themes for television, the students will further develop their stories with their teachers and professional television writers.
Once the pilot has been produced in partnership with one Los Angeles charter school, it will be filmed and released to garner attention and support from other schools to expand the program citywide in order to reach more students.
The Kids has just announced the launch of their fundraising campaign on Seed & Spark. Backers can earn an array of prizes and incentives including a "Special Thanks" in the rolling credits, Executive Producer/ IMDB credit, and many more.
