BUMP.com Launches at DEMO Fall 2010

BUMP.com offers users the ability to safely send voice, text and email messages to motorists based on their license plate numbers.  Once a message has been sent to a license plate through the BUMP.com service, the information is stored in the service's database until the owner of the plate registers with BUMP.com.  This process is known as "claiming" a license plate.

"The fusion of the existing vehicle registration network and BUMP.com's proprietary imaging and communications technology creates a completely new way of communicating with other people, and a new form of 'motion-demographics' for businesses," said BUMP.com founder and CEO Mitch Thrower, a San Diego-based entrepreneur. "It's also important to note, that we are disabling texting when our smart phone apps are moving, and only allowing voice messaging for safety," he said.

The service will likely be used by fast food companies to profile the purchasing habits and preferences of drive-through customers, professional sports teams to market directly to the fans who attend events and other types of marketers.  BUMP.com's automated license plate recognition technology reads five license plates per second at speeds of up to 150 mph.

BUMP.com was founded and incorporated in August 2009.  The company is capitalized under venture capital and private family equity.  It closed a Series A capital raise of $1 million in June 2010.  Thrower's previous ventures have included The Active Network, Inc. (Active.com), a software, marketing and registration powerhouse, and San Diego-based Competitor Group, Inc., a platform media and race event company specializing in the endurance sports sector.
