DENVER, Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Burg Simpson Eldredge Hersh & Jardine, P.C., has further strengthened the firm's litigation practice with the addition of George E. McLaughlin. Mr. McLaughlin, a nationally respected trial lawyer, joins Burg Simpson as Special Counsel from Denver-based McDermott, Hansen & McLaughlin, LLP.

Mr. McLaughlin brings with him with impeccable credentials, a broad range of civil litigation experience and a proven track record in a career spanning more than 30 years. Mr. McLaughlin focuses his practice on product liability, medical malpractice, personal injury and wrongful death, birth trauma, automobile and truck collisions, and cases involving chemical exposure.

Mr. McLaughlin has successfully tried over 100 cases to verdict in state and federal courts in more than 30 states. For more than a decade he has been at the forefront of product liability litigation involving electric blanket fires, having recently obtained a jury verdict of $2 million, the largest reported verdict on such a case in the past ten years.

A former Municipal Judge for the City of Wheeling, West Virginia, Mr. McLaughlin is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, B.A., 1976 and the University of Denver, J.D., 1979.  He is an active member of the local and national legal communities. He is a member of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA), the West Virginia Trial Lawyers Association (WVTLA), the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA) - Civil Trial Advocacy, Public Justice and the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI).  Mr. McLaughlin has also met the standard of excellence for selection as one of the American Trial Lawyers Association Top 100 Trial Lawyers in Colorado.
