Caesarstone Presents Two Large-scale Installations by Nendo to be Unveiled During Fuori Salone 2013, Milan at Palazzo Crivelli

Caesarstone continues its collaboration with world-renowned Japanese design studio, Nendo.  Following a successful debut at the Interior Design Show in Toronto earlier this year, the company will be exhibiting at the Fuori Salone 2013 in Milan this coming April.

Caesarstone has invited Nendo's Creative Director Oki Sato to engage with its quartz surface materials, emphasizing their inherent qualities of strength, durability and design. The results are two installations doing just that in the most sophisticated of ways. Both installations are to be presented at Palazzo Crivelli, in the heart of Brera Design District.

The Stone-Edge Table collection consists of seven wooden tables, embellished with corner and leg details. The organically shaped, jewel-like pieces, made from Caesarstone's Classico collection, are both a decorative as well as protective element to the most exposed parts of a table. Typically used for countertops, flooring, wall cladding, and cabinet coverings, the application of Caesarstone surfaces as a sophisticated and refined detail in furniture brings a new meaning to the material. In a carefully engineered design, the two materials blend seamlessly together into a simple, contemporary shape showcasing the minimalistic beauty characteristic of Nendo.

"In designing the Stone-Edge Table collection, I was able to take advantage of the strength of the material. Rather than ostentatiously applying the material to the entire design, we created wooden tables and used Caesarstone to protect the table top corners and feet.  The subtle stone elements are incorporated to make the tables stronger whiledrawing focus to the seamless coexistence with the wood. The seven tables vary slightly in size and proportions, each with a different type of Ceasarstone"

The second installation by Nendo will be revealed in the Palazzo's courtyard. StoneGarden, the collaboration unveiled earlier this year, will be displayed in a new formation. StoneGarden was a great success at IDS13 in Toronto, and the juxtaposition between its minimal design and the architecture of the Palazzo will further enhance the serene character of the installation.

It consists of around 200 table-like elements made out of seven different stone-shaped quartz surfaces and nine different stone colours, each supported by a simple metal rod and secured by an overlapping design. The elements are clustered together to form a seemingly floating landscape. The simplicity of the design reflects Nendo's minimalistic approach, while exhibiting the exceptional quality, functionality and creativity of Caesarstone. Like the different shapes, depths and directions of overlaps forming this installation, Caesarstone's versatile surface designs can complement any space.
