Cambium Learning Group Approved as Educational Service Provider for the Colorado Department of Education
DALLAS, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) recently announced that Cambium Learning Group, Inc., a leading provider of research-based education solutions for students in Pre-K through 12th grade, including intervention curricula, educational technologies and services, has been approved as an educational service provider to assist with school transformation and turnaround efforts statewide.
According to the CDE press release, Cambium Learning Group and other identified providers will focus primarily on school turnaround and transformation efforts, and assist with more intensive interventions. These providers will assist schools and school districts in five areas including organizational management and leadership, academic performance, learning environment, financial management and operations and comprehensive planning.
"We are proud the Colorado Department of Education selected Cambium Learning as part of their school transformation and turnaround effort," said David Cappellucci, President of Cambium Learning Group. "Being selected gives us the opportunity to build on the successful partnerships we've established in Colorado through Colorado Reading First, Colorado Read to Achieve and our work with the state department to facilitate the development of a best practices model, which culminated in a full RtI plan called the Best Practices Manual for RtI."
The company has already successfully partnered with other state departments and districts across Colorado and the country providing interventions to Tier I, Tier II and Tier III schools. Those include: Colorado Springs, Denver Public Schools, Weld County, Virginia Department of Education, Waukegan Public School District (IL), Arizona Department of Education, Montgomery Public Schools (AL) and Paterson School District (NJ).
In all, the grant program anticipates spending $37.7 million over the next three years. Funds are being made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The U.S. Department of Education announced an opportunity for states and school districts to access unprecedented resources for reforms that increase graduation rates, reduce dropout rates, improve instructional quality and create a challenging learning environment where students excel academically.
On February 8-9, 2010, Cambium Learning Group will attend a two-day CDE Vendor Fair, at which time representatives will demonstrate the company's intervention programs and provide additional information to districts. The Vendor Fair will be held at the Holiday Inn Select, 455 South Colorado Blvd., in Denver.
