Through partnerships with major retailers, KINF is able to procure $30 worth of school supplies for every dollar donated to their foundation. The foundation has 29 Resources Centers located across the country where teachers from designated low-income school districts with at least 70 percent of students receiving free or reduced lunch through the federal free lunch program can shop for their students. To date, KINF has distributed more than $450 million in school supplies through these facilities, directly impacting 2.4 million students and 100,000 teachers annually.
"We are thrilled to be partnering with the Kids in Need Foundation," says George Logue, president of Voyager/Sopris Learning. "The reality is that many of the students we serve are from low-income households and do not have the means to obtain even the most basic school supplies. Academic achievement is enhanced by students coming to school well prepared, and ready to learn with the right materials. We stand behind the outstanding efforts of this foundation and are pleased to join in this cause."
The Kids In Need Foundation is a national 501(c)(3) charitable organization with the mission of ensuring that every child is prepared to learn and succeed by providing free school supplies nationally to students most in need. Kids In Need has received Charity Navigator's highest four-star rating for four consecutive years, indicating that it operates in a fiscally responsible way and outperforms most other charities in America and is a Gold-level GuideStar Exchange participant, demonstrating its commitment to transparency.
"With more than 16 million children living below the poverty line in the United States, the need is immediate for school supplies," said Dave Smith, executive director of the Kids In Need Foundation. "This donation will go a long way to help us directly fulfill our mission of getting school supplies to the students and teachers who need them the most. We are very thankful to Voyager/Sopris Learning for this partnership."
